My name is April and I live in the Boston area.  I am currently studying Music Industry at a local school, but I have a love on the side…. food.  I have a strong Midwestern heritage and I love me some good ol’ heart of the country cookin’.  But being in a city (albeit a small one, with much more culture than I would have imagined), I’ve learned to try some new things and combine upscale food with the down home.  What I hope to share here is food for the common person- food for someone who wants to eat something tasty, but be able to make it themselves.  Food for people who like food.  You’ll get a little of my recipes and others I decide to take on, and a little on my dining experiences in the area.

There are some pitfalls to this here blog though.  Things I wish I could share with you, but can’t… at least not from my own experiences.  I have allergies to mushrooms and shellfish.  Because of the shellfish and my family coming from the Midwest… fish itself wasn’t big in my upbringing.  In fact, I’ve probably had fish all of 3-4 times, and it was tuna or swordfish, each of those times.  So no fish for me, but if I hear any recommendations from others, I’ll pass the word.

Though I am not a vegetarian, I rarely eat meat.  This is because of some weird thing in my head about meat I get from a store or from restaurants.  I am strangely picky about it, and tend to only use meat I bought from my hometown… which means I cook meat almost never.  I do sometimes get some poultry in the meals, so you might hear about some oh-so-adventurous chicken or turkey.  And despite how it sounds, I really do love a nice steak (without fatty edges, yucky).  I an be hard to please with this stuff.

I am not terribly outgoing with food, though that doesnt mean that the stuff I like is any less tasty.. so I hope at the least you can share in the enjoyment of what I write about here, and get to the kitchen yourself- it’s good for you.  No need to be a skilled chef… just an enjoyment for food and the satisfaction of making it and getting the first bite.

Eat well and be merry!
